The characters were well-drawn and interesting, and the historic setting was vividly described. I found the story very involving and a real page-turner. The depiction of the climactic hurricane was riveting and dramatic, and I loved the brief history lesson at the end with the startling facts of the Galveston hurricane of 1900. As a regular reader of historical fiction/romance, this was right up my alley and I had trouble putting it down. It's an easy read, but not a fluffy one--a story with twists and turns even before the storm hits the island. I recommend this book!

As a grown man I like my love stories with some serious action and this story did not disappoint! I don't want to give too much away, but I really related to the older brother, he was my favorite, I'll just stop there as I already feel I've said too much. This book makes me want to visit Galveston Island and see the scenes from the book, and that is exactly what I'm gonna do. See you in Galveston after your read of this great action adventure love story, & Mrs Winters, I do not like you very much...

Her characters are interesting and I would recommend this book to anyone interested in exploring what might have happened during this historic time. It was an easy and enjoyable read!
