The event that brings them together In town for his cousin’s wedding, Declan meets James just as he’s bested the annoying groom. Intrigued by the mild-mannered cleric’s surprising spirit, Declan asks James to help him discover if his aging aunt is being mistreated by her spouse. Love is where you find it By ahhmericanwoman I was gifted an ARC of this book for an honest review. This is the first romance I ever read that involved M/M characters. I must admit I was a little bit apprehensive, as I am a very heterosexual female. But I believe in broadening my horizons through reading, and this was a great opportunity for me. So I am a little embarassed to admit that I thought this book was smoking hot! James and Declan were a great match. The love scenes were very explicit. The story itself was also very interesting, and I found myself pulled in by in the characters in this little town. One slight annoyance for me (and this is how I feel about ALL romance novels) is how quickly the characters supposedly fell 'in love'. I just feel real love takes time – it doesn't happen in just a few days. Still, there was no doubt about the intense attraction between James and Declan, and it went beyond just the physical. I loved the way the plot worked itself out so that they were able to have their HEA. Authors Bonnie Dee and Summer Devon did a wonderful job writing this sensitive tale about an alternative couple. I won't have any more doubts reading other books like this. Great job!

Their use of language and setting always pulls me in and makes me really feel the characters. I also love how much I really feel the love between the MCs and the intensity of how it must feel loving someone in a time when its not legal to do so. Their HEAs always feel authentic and thankfully they don't overload me with angst when the time period alone provides plenty.I was also intrigued by the issues with the aunt and the wedding of Kip and Emily. It was an entertaining read and hit all the right notes. Recommended read.

Although it's not said explicitly, I guess we find ourselves towards the end of the Victorian era. In those days men who had a relationship with other men could be prosecuted and jailed for this. To create a believable love story with some kind of HEA under such conditions takes some ingenuity. And the authors manage it very well.James is a nice man, a dedicated servant of God, concerned with wellbeing of his parishioners - and a closet submissive. Except a brief period of (actually rather unsatisfactory) encounters with Kit, the son of the local esquire, he has no experience at all.Declan on the other hand is a well traveled person who has managed to acquire enough experience also in this area of life. He knows how to take lead and thus give his partner what he desires. These two men meet because of the upcoming wedding of Kit, since Kit is Declan's cousin. During those few days they fall in love. Since James cannot see how he could be able to leave his vocation, it's up to Declan to find a solution.
