By April R Symes This is the second in this series of novels in the “Affairs of the Arena”—and this is another wonderful historical romance which is flavored with erotica. Gwenn’s life has been marked by fury and rebellion. Gwenn is a Celtic slave to be sold and she has been sold to the House V where is to fight in the arena. All the Gladiators think of her as a joke , and her trainer there ,Lucius oh he drives her insane. Yet there is something about him that also calls to her female side and makes her want to get his attention. Gwenn is a woman that loves to fight, for she had had to do this to stay alive, to make sure to keep what was hers and for this man, for Lucius, she would, if he would just give her a sign, she would fight for him. Lucius has a secret , one that could change things for him with Gwenn and he guards this so deep because this woman calls to his soul so deep. This story has so many twists and turns-There is intrigue, hot sex, romance, and action.. I loved the flow of this story –You could see the true villain(s) and how Gwenn’s man fought for her/them. The ending was so yummy. I highly recommend this story because the love of a Gladiator is great and the MC really show you everything that you are looking for in a romance novel.My Rating: 4.6 stars ********A gifted copy was provided by the author for my honest review****

It's full of lots of details that make it totally come to life and the world feels so real. It makes me feel like I could talk intelligently about Rome in this time, though lol probably not.But we're here for the “Romance” part of Historical Romance. And wow! Does not disappoint. Gwenn is my favorite heroine in a long time. She loves to fight, and instead of dreading the entrance into the arena, she looks forward to it like a crazy person. She's absolutely crazy, but it's my kind of crazy, you know?And it's Lucius's kind of crazy too. He doesn't like her at first, but man, that goes away soon enough. The only problem is, in all the years he's been fighting and drinking, he's got a LOT of demons to work through. One in particular is HUGE and I actually gasped when I found out what it was.Glued to the pages all the way through. Five stars.

By mizztara71 I received an ecopy from the author and all opinions are my own.I loved the first book in the series and I could not wait to read the second book. I was not disappointed! The author did an amazing job with character development, especially Lucius. I got to glimpse his hopelessness, acceptance and finally his hopefulness. Gwenn was a strong heroine. She didn't despair over being forced to fight for her life, instead she looked forward to it. I liked that the relationship between Gwenn and Lucius developed gradually. I couldn't help but root for them. The fight scenes were very vivid and detailed. The villains were truly vile, the story was very fast paced and the secondary characters added to the depth of the story.I would highly recommend this story and look forward to reading Desire of the Gladiator.
