About the Author Bruce Wm. Taneski enlisted in the United States Army with his Fathers permission at the age of 17. Inducted in June of 1969 he did his Basic Training at Ft. Bragg NC followed by AIT at Ft. Gordon GA and then was assigned to Jump School at Ft. Benning GA. He arrived in Vietnam 49 days after his 18th birthday. After Vietnam he was assigned to the “Old Guard” 1st Battalion 3rd Infantry Regiment at Ft. Meyer VA. He would finish his Army service as a Military Policeman at Ft. Riley Kansas in 1972. He was married in 1979 and lived in Philadelphia before moving to New Jersey where he still resides with his wife. They have 3 children all girls and 4 grandchildren. After his separation from the service he started having symptoms of PTSD. The Veterans Administration first gave him a diagnosis for the impairment in 1982. He along with other Vietnam Veterans working from the Vet Center at 12th and Arch St in Philadelphia chartered the Vietnam Veterans Assistance Post # 28 of the VFW. After moving to NJ with his family in 1986 he transferred his VFW membership to the Washington Township Memorial Post # 6332 where he remains a life member. He was elected as District 13 Commander for the VFW Department of NJ in 1994. He is a founding sponsor of the United States Army Historical Foundation. Despite his many problems with PTSD and his hearing he was able to have a career as a telecommunications technician he had the same job for 34 years and worked for 11 different companies. He is semi-retired and is still active in Veterans affairs. This is his first book.

Taneski's narrative exemplifies the experiences of countless GI's that served honorably and did their jobs to the best of their By 199th Infantry Brigade - Redcatcher! A very concise, accurate, and honest account about about the varied experiences of a small group of soldiers that served in Echo Recon platoons in both the 199th LIB and 5th Infantry Division. Mr. Taneski's narrative exemplifies the experiences of countless GI's that served honorably and did their jobs to the best of their ability without ever divulging the intricate details of their service and experience(s) to their friends and family.The title of the book is perfectly fitting for the many thousands of young men that served in Vietnam and Cambodia in that tumultuous time.Thank you sir.RJ Gouge
