Having enjoyed Patriot Heart By Cynthia Dyer Having enjoyed Patriot Heart, book 1 in the Journey Home Series, I looked forward to the second book, Faithful Heart, and wasn’t disappointed. Once again, the author’s characterizations were heartwarming and authentic. The heroine’s love for the hero’s daughter felt genuine. The hero’s struggle with horrific memories of his captivity in Andersonville Prison, and his personal losses put me into his mind and emotions. The research for the story’s setting: a Texas cattle ranch 1865-66, after the Civil War, was fascinating and came alive on the pages. I would recommend Faithful Heart to anyone who appreciates a fast-paced story that’s also romantic and uplifting.

Lainie is the only female on a large cattle ranch except for four year old Emily who she has cared for as her own since the child's mother died three years ago. One day Emily's father who has been a prisioner in Andersonville Prison shows up to claim his daughter. This is the first book I have read by Diane Kalas but it was well written with great characters and moved quickly. I will certainly look for more of her books.I received Faithful Heart from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

She loves her writings and I love reading her books as they reveal a deeper desire to allow her readers to experience her characters.
