She is above his class. But she is not above wanting him for herself.

Leda is better than the lowly place she finds herself in. Born a princess and now trapped as a slave serving gladiators, she fights every day just to keep her head above water. Her petitions for freedom and a return to her home country are tireless—but as a princess, she has to remain pure, and her body untainted, if she is to return at all. The last thing she should do is fall for a gladiator. But that’s exactly what happens when arena warrior Conall saves her life from a would-be assassin. Conall is wrong for Leda in every way. He’s wild. He’s reckless. He’s utterly beneath her station. He’s also got a hard, ripped body forged by dozens of battles, a stare that makes her melt, and a love so fierce that it digs deep into the fibers of her soul. Their heat is undeniable, but Conall is dead-set on pursuing one too-dangerous fight after another. His passion will get him killed—but it’s also what draws Leda to him with her breaths hot and her undergarments totally soaked. When they join together, they risk everything. But if there’s one thing worth dying for, it’s the desire of a gladiator.

By mizztara71 I received a copy from the author in exchage for my honest opinion. This story proves that size really doesn't matter. Conall may be small in stature, but he has the heart and drive of a giant. I absolutely loved his reckless way of living, his fearlessness and his willingness to try and defy the odds even with his life being on the line.In the beginning, Leda kept her status of being a Princess from having any feelings for Conall. Once she saw him as an equal, the story really took off. It was refreshing reading about a man who had no problems with expressing his love and affection for the object of his desire. Before Leda, Conall had no desire to live. It was great seeing this proud man find something worth living and fighting for. She was outspoken and strong, everything that I look for in a heroine. The author did a wonderful job detailing the hard life of a gladiator and their treatment as slaves. I am a sucker for a HEA. It was great for these two, who lived such hard and demeaning lives as slaves to finally have their dreams realized. This was a perfect way to end the series and I look forward to reading more from this author.

One could read them as stand alones and they all have HEA's (which I sooo love) but if a person could read all three you should. Definitely recommend. Conall is the lowly gladiator. Although gladiators are highly prized, they have a very low class caste. Leda is the Armenian princess sold into slavery, ending up at the same ludus as Conall. Leda at first is very cognizant of their different social standings and tries to deny her attraction and love for this mighty fighter. This prejudice, assassins, pride, and of course the brutal arena fights are just some of what the two have to work through to end up together. Appreciate the history and terminology brought to life. Again, great read, look forward to more from this author.Received an ARC for an honest review.

By Do not publish name This story is the third of the Affairs of the Arena series by Ms. Pax and it is as good as the first two. This story revolves around Conall (a/k/a Pertinax in the arena) and Leda's love (Leda is a princess of Armenia pursued by an assassin, whom she "takes care of" when he abducts her) and she finally admitts to herself that Conall is her one and only love even though they are of different social classes. When Conall beats a huge warrior named Titan and Conall is badly injured in their battle Leda realizes she cannot live without his love. With part of the fortune she amassed from the assassin and her own money,Leda buys Conall's freedom and they leave Publius's ludus to start a happy life together. It was nice that the author wrote in an appearance in this book Conall's friends and former co-gladiators from the previous two books: Caius, Aeliana, Lucius and Gwenn as they make him an offer to buy his freedom so he can pursue happiness with Leda and get away from the arena and possibly death in a gladiator fight. Conall refuses and goes on to fight the Titan in the fight of his life. The happy ending in this story as well as the other two is something that will keep me reading this author's writings again. I love happy endings!
