By Shiron'o My eagle's gambit... an interesting tale that is more than one would think if one judged it instantly by the category of erotica. The book is well written with excellent descriptions of the devastation and chaos befalling the main characters, and it contains an interesting mixture of action...post-apocalypse type survivor-ship and a well written bit of romance at the end of the story. However I think this is also where the story falls a little bit short. It starts out interesting and strong, with references to other environments and scenes that I think the book would have been much stronger for the inclusion of. As it sits, it almost reads a bit like the middle part of a larger story, where we could have had something more complete if some scenes at the research center and after the romance scene were present. Having said that, the idea is engaging and the characters are all believable, having reasons for the decisions they make, and the eagle is not TOO anthrocized. She is still a wild bird, albeit one with more humanistic emotion that makes her reactions to her rider more believable. All in all an excellent short bit of erotica and world building but definitely has room to expand upon...possibly later stories or pre-chapters of a sort.
