About the Author Teresa was born in Houston, TX, raised in Utah, Kansas and Texas. She lives in New Jersey and Arizona. She trained to be a chemist until the last semester of undergraduate school when she realized she would graduate more quickly with a degree in Mathematics. Now she satisfies her chemical curiosity cooking in the kitchen, sometimes to the chagrin of her kids. For years she worked in a large corporation where she met many memorable brilliant people from all over the world pursuing the American Dream. When her five-year-old son reviewed the family tree kindergarten assignment spanning fourteen generations in multiple lines, he crumpled his brow in study for a long pause. The poster size tree included shipwrecks, soldiers on both sides of the civil war, religious activists, English Colonists and American pioneers. He had one comment. Mom, I was just sure Chuck Yeager would be in there somewhere. After the death of her first husband, Teresa used exercise to combat grief. She became an endurance athlete, eventually completing the Iditasport a 100 mile race over ice and snow. Teresa is a follower of Jesus Christ, though flawed -in other words just like his other followers. As such, she is utterly reliant on the grace of God, which she finds in the Roman Catholic, Baptist, Moravian and non-denominational traditions.

Excellent Historical Fiction By Kyle Keller If you are interested in why the founding fathers thought it was so important to separate church and state, this book details it better than any other I have read. If you are interested in the struggles of the early English settlers of the USA, (both here and in the mother country),this book will keep you enthralled. And if you have always been fascinated by the culture, life and politics of native Americans, then this is the book for you. Yes, it's fiction, but the author has done her homework, and if you are so inclined, you can find out which characters were real, and which were imagined in the notes at the end of the book. Roger Williams played an important part in the creation of our Constitution, and is a worthy character for fiction.. Ms. Irizarry brings the man to life and proves herself adept at understanding the divisions between the Anglican and Puritan and eventual Baptist doctrines, and the relationships amoungst the Algonquin, Pequot, and Mohawk tribes. You will be entertained and educated by this novel, and I recommend it highly.

Being a descendant of the Winthrop clan, I found several interesting turns in the layered plot. The interplay among leaders of the new settlement, the native tribes and English rule is fascinating. I'm glad the author took up this oft-overlooked period of history. My favorite part was the struggle of Roger Williams as he set out in a blizzard to find the land of Rhode Island and freedom to worship God without interference from the church hierarchy. A real friendship between John Winthrop the Younger and Williams is explored.Very brave to tackle this as historical fiction. The story is multi-layered and certainly has enough weight and drama to be turned into a mini-series or made-for-TV movie.Brava..Robert Winthrop Talmage

I have personally attended a forum where the author did a reading from the book and then opened the floor to questions and discussion. I found the author to be well studied in the facts and her passionate knowledge of the subject to be excellent. Her attention to even the small details was amazing.This book is for anyone interested in the preserving of and belief in the freedom of religion through the stilted rules of government interference. The main character, Roger Williams, is an unassuming man with a dedicated belief for which God had called him to accomplish. He mainly thought it was to bring God's word to the native Indian tribes of the land. Roger persisted through many trials of his own, both natural and man-made, to come into his truth of 'life' that he felt was his calling. It is a book full of many, many names from every walk of life in that day...royal to beggar, English, Dutch, native Americans of the eastern tribes of that day...all brought together into the finished walk toward our now taken-for-granted freedoms. Many of the settlers who came for the new freedoms found themselves trying to structure their own government to almost a duplicate of what they had left behind. Roger was castigated from their community for telling them their bad decisions straightforward. He was not a subtle person, and most people can't take that honesty. He also called to task a few 'preachers of the word' for their wrong interpretations of the Bible. you who have the stamina to get through this book will appreciate the human duplicity and workings that never seem to change in what we do from generation to generation. Try it. I guarantee you will be drawn into it after a few pages of knocking yourself out with names.Louise Edmonson

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A Wonderous Journey Into The Bizarre By John G. Who or what is Hollow Man? Well, it’s more about a bizarre collection of stories, seven to be exact. I especially enjoyed “Consumed.” To me, this short story had the makings of a novel. I’ve changed my mind a number of times regarding the ending thinking was it literal or was this some sort of delusion? The writing conveyed anguish, pain, and the love and protection of children or maybe it wasn't that at all. I wasn’t quite sure what to believe. Maybe I was making great leaps of faith.In fact, I’m thinking what my perceptions might me about each story may not be what the writer, Hayden Robinson intended. There’s certainly horror and fantasy at play. But then a part of me was wondering what was real. At any rate, that’s what makes for interesting reading.The stories are certainly short enough to read again at leisure. In fact, I know I will. In this type writing, I often pick up on things I may have missed the first time around. I encourage you to give Random Man a read too.

A Compelling Collection of Evocative Essays By Dori Owen To read Layden Robinson's "Random Man," it is imperative to leave rational thought with the coat check and enter only with an open mind to a new set of realities. In this short book of colorful essays, Robinson uses his stream of consciousness style to build unique, compelling characters in various life scenarios using colorful, often provoking, descriptions. The essays may seem unrelated to each other, or part of a larger story buildup, but their commonalities are glorious and vivid scenarios, shock talk, and original and intriguing metaphors. I found myself wondering at the end of each, do I need to take anything with me, or is this a standalone story? But they were good enough that I really didn't care. I read on. My favorite is "The Source," one of the longer essays which I would describe as Stephen King meets Dorian Gray. This manic descent into autoart is a world class abyss filled with guts, gore, and the seven circles of hell. "Random Man" is primitive, real, and raw. A great read for anyone wanting to take a vacation from reality and meet some original, evocative characters reminiscent of any decent Hunter S. Thompson road trip.

"This is the collection of Short Stories I told my aunty about" by Isaac Keith Martinez (of ISAAC'S HAUNTED BEARD) By Isaac Keith Martinez These short stories are emotional, violent, erotic, weird and at times winking at you with a "Can you feel my me?" vibe. At times, the author has a children book approach to adult material. The wine influence that helped guide Layden through his wavy world of wonder, is somewhat of an invisible character in and of itself. I recommend this for people who have an appetite to read all they can get their eyeballs on, especially in digital form, hiding behind the sofa, next to a copy of FANTASIA 2000, while listening to ducks make love. I didn't connect too much with this, but I did enjoy parts of it. If I were falling off a tall building, I would probably scream. Tell my boss, to shove it. I'll date his daughter and pee on the lawn.

By Grady Harp Successful author and publisher Rick Bettencourt brings back on stage Dan Sexton, a writer new to many of us, in a the completed version of his earlier brief novella HANDY MEN DO IT BETTER: the new completed full length, `fleshed out' version is now called THE HANDY MAN CAN, and the steam does indeed rise.Florida, contemporary times. Jake Honeywell is a 23 year old `blond, green-eyed, six foot two' hunk of a landscaper and in between conversations with his sister and brother he meets 28 year old Cory Hamilton, a hunky golfer from North Carolina who flips real estate for a living. Both men are conflicted about coming out but together they manage to be honest and the results are spontaneous and sensual.Dan Sexton has the solid approach in writing male erotica to make sure that the characters he manipulates are not clones but real men with real conflicts, family and lives beyond the moments of encounters. I really liked the way the two main characters were developed and I could really feel their emotional pain and challenges and their growth through the trials they experienced. I am not a history buff but the personalities of the historical figures came through as I remember from early studies. I also enjoyed the way the story was ended.I have also enjoyed Michael's short stories.

And here with Asher, Tyler and Zane's story, we get just that.SEXY.ADDICTIVE.ACTION PACKED.STEAMY.DARK.SOULFUL.Asher's story (Book 1) is one that will make your heart want to take a break and your soul to take a cleansing class. Seriously. We couldn't have had a stronger alpha male that possesses a sexiness and an aura about him that make your panties instantly wet, you your cheeks to blush all sorts of red shades. He is a deeply tortured guy who seems to be struggling through life.. But something is about to change all that. Audrey. They seem to be one another's muse when it comes to how their love for one another has been owned by each since the first time they were together, a while back..Tyler (Book 2) has left behind a lot of damage, and because of that, it has been holding some heavy weight on his shoulders. This burden of regret in leaving his brother - Asher - behind, doesn't come without it's consequences.. But one positive factor that plays a huge role when he returns? Erin. A girl who has had a hold of his heart, and the ONLY girl that was able to hold onto to a heart of his that he claims isn't worth it..Zane (Book 3) is the one book from the three that made me cry not just once, but a couple of times. The connection that I had with his story was just too strong not to have my very own tears cloud my perception when it comes to reading mere words.. But that's the thing with Jo Raven's writing. You never truly believe you're reading yet another biker book. No. You are swept into a world that doesn't let go. It never really lets go until it's sure that you're emotions are messed up. That's exactly what I LOVED about Zane's story. He has the role of looking after almost everyone else, and with that comes he inevitable responsibility of everyone fate and trust being thrown your way - whether you want it or not OR whether you planned for it to hit you that hard, it's just something that eventually takes it's toll. Through a roller-coaster ride that is a daily ritual for Zane, only one thing can finally keep him grounded and give him the strength to put some of his own emotions, thinking and overall life, ahead for a change. Dakota. A troubled soul that on it's path to near destruction meets another.. And together, who knows what will happen. It will either bring them some good, a last saving grace for their mental state and hearts. OR it could bring them to oblivion because we all know that playing fire with fire will only ever result into a scar that it twice as hard to rid of and forget.. But it that true for these two?? . . .Absolutely amazing series of books!! I really like this author.His first two, Skater in a Strange Land and The Skater and the Saint were fun to read, escapist, fantasy. (Even though I’ve never been a fan of ice hockey, I found myself enjoying the fast-paced games; and I loved the talking bears!)His second two, The Mirror and the Mage and The Staff and The Shield are more serious and follow a young boy, Lucius Junius Brutus as his future is decided in ancient Rome. Lucius and his special friend Demetria encounter incredible obstacles as they work together to save Rome.One caveat: it’s important to read The Mirror and the Mage first. The Staff and the Shield is a continuation of the adventures of Lucius. (The author uses Latin terms which you’ll understand and know by heart after reading the first of the series.)I recommend D.W. Frauenfelder’s books – especially for very bright young adults, the young at heart, those who love a good adventure story, and for oldsters (like me) who took Latin “back in the day.”

By pj For as short and steamy as this trilogy was, the story was surprisingly well developed. It was fun to follow Jason as he discovers the truth about his past and the author made it easy to empathize with our hero. If this was a wine I'd guess I describe it as a wonderfully dark, full bodied shifter vintage aged with smoke from embers and lust.

In 1906, Cord Meyer Development Company purchased 600 acres in Whitepot and renamed it Forest Hills after its high elevation of rolling hills and proximity to Forest Park. After the Russell Sage Foundation acquired 142 acres and Grosvenor Atterbury and Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. partnered, the Forest Hills Gardens, founded in 1909, became Americas earliest planned garden community. When Henry Schloh and Charles Hausmann of the Rego Construction Company came upon farmland in Forest Hills West, they renamed it Rego Park in 1923 after their slogan, REal GOod Homes. Between the Tudor and Colonial landmarks, one can sense the footsteps of a few hundred notables who granted soul to the community and society. At the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, imagine the Beatles landing in a helicopter in front of screaming fans in 1964, or when Althea Gibson became the first African American to win a US national tennis title in 1957. Forest Hills High School was a cornerstone for notable alumni, such as composer Burt Bacharach; musical duo Simon & Garfunkel; Bob Keeshan, who portrayed Captain Kangaroo; and the first space tourist, Dennis Tito.

Kohn Michael has created a treasure for anyone who has lived in Queens, New York City, New York. He has included not only famous people but also famous landmarks, some of which are no longer around. Remember Fairyland Park? Remember the world's largest Howard Johnson's that was nearby. There are lots of sports, entertainment and financial people included all of whose lives have been touched by this area of New York City.
