EUPHORIA is a modern day erotic romance, based around childhood best friends Heidi and Fatima who have been abidingly writing each other letters from adolescence through adulthood. Heidi, the “country mouse” is a wealthy, elegant yet sultry mulatto who lives on the idyllic sleepy island of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Portuguese-Canadian Fatima, the “city mouse” lives in Toronto; she is naïve, quirky and contemporary. You could say she is wild at heart- yet spiritually awake (Think “Sex in the City” meets “Eat, Love, Pray”). Some might say these 2 are polar opposites – Heidi is somewhat timid in nature and an atheist due to the unspeakable tragedy which was bestowed upon her little brother. She is married with children and leads a very traditional life and is suffering from apathy and boredom. Fatima on the other hand thrives on excitement and adrenaline. As a result of a mortifying encounter she had with Mark Zuckerburg, Fatima despises Facebook and processes what happens through her letters to Heidi. These unfiltered hand-written letters to Heidi keeps their childhood relationship evolving long-distance. To Fatima’s shock, her life changes forever as she ends up in a passionate love affair with someone whom she regarded as “off limits” and “taboo”. FROM THE AUTHOR: The main message I wanted to portray in EUPHORIA, is that love transcends skin color, religion, beliefs, values, gender and species. That is, pure love is universal, holds no boundaries and is infinite. In 2011 my childhood best friend gave me over 100+ hand written letters, notes, cards... which we wrote to each other since elementary up until present day- adulthood. My book, EUPHORIA is inspired from this collection of earnest and exposed hand written letters from a pair of unlikely and dissimilar best friends. My prose is influenced by Leonard Cohen's experimental novel, Beautiful Losers which he wrote in the early 1960's before he went on to become a famous musician and Canadian icon.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A must reading short novel. :) By Sandra N. "Euphoria and Other Human Longings" really got me. I read it in less than 2 days. Couldn't stop reading it.The Story is very compelling. The first few pages it's just you are reading letters between Fatima and Heidi who are best friends since early childhood. You get to know much Information about Fatima's life and her often changing boyfriends. It's not the real with each of them. From time to time the letters between them two got deeper and deeper and more emotional. At some parts of the book I felt like "Wait, this could be me in some parts" I smiled so often and was super happy when the Story had their Highlight.I really loved reading this short but great book. Can't wait for more.Lisa, congrats on this well done short novel!Sandra N.

By Siss I really enjoyed reading 'Euphoria and Other Human Longings', as well as I enjoyed Lisa's first book 'Her Apparitions & Other Human Longings'. Just like the previous book, this one also takes a short time to read and is easy to understand, written in a smooth flowing style.The story is about two different characters, connected by a very strong friendship since their childhood and transforming it into an everlasting bond.In 1990s, the characters used to be in touch through letters (that make significant part of the book). Since then, they both had been living their own lives, filled with turns and challenges, in different cities.Recently, one of the characters decided to deactivate her Facebook account and so she wrote a letter to her childhood friend again.As life moved on, their lives got quite balanced but both of them felt like they were not living to the fullest. They were still looking for something else, trying to find their solid ground...

About finding yourself, about friendship, about finding happiness and about true love.I read it in less than 24 hours, just because I couldn't put it away!! I just loved it!!The writing style is great and easily understandable even for a person who doesn't have English as their first language.It's a very inspirational book which I can only recommend!There's only one negative thing about the book, and that is that it's way too short, haha ;)I also read Lisa's first book "Her Apparitions and Other Human Longings", and just like I loved that one, I love this book as well.Congrats Lisa, you did it again!! Can't wait to read more from you! :)
