Page turner featuring Ambrose Lincoln character By Deborah DR Kralich This is a thriller continuing the series with the Ambrose Lincoln character. A real page turner incorporating lots of mystery and intrigue. This will keep you on the edge of your seat with sharp hard hitting prose that leads to a thriller of a conclusion!

WWII Noir Worth Reading By Linda Yezak The early chapters of this WWII noir illustrate the fractured mind of a man whose brain the government has scrambled too many times by the crude use of electro-therapy. But the story goes full circle, and the bizarre events the main character, Ambrose Lincoln, experiences early in the novel explain its end.Ambrose Lincoln, despite his scrambled brain and erased memory, is sent on a mission to recover a painting that's rumored to have the mystical ability to allow escape from this world into another through a gate illuminated by a streak of lightning. If the rumor--or myth--is true, and Hitler gets his hands on the artwork, he can escape persecution on this side of heaven and retribution on the other side. Everyone is after this piece--Germans, Brits, Russians, Americans--all for different reasons. Lincoln must get to it first.The structure of the story itself has a form of brilliance that still boggles my mind, but the novel is a hard read. Definitive of the genre, everything is bleak in the novel. Everyone experiences an intense sense of despair--or, on the other hand, they consider death an elusive friend they'd welcome with open arms if he'd just come around and save them from their misery. Caleb has a gift of driving deep into the reader's imagination the mood, the insanity, the darkness surrounding the events and characters in his book.Not everyone’s cup of tea, but still worth the read.

Here's the Dark Side of Suspense By Jim C The Night Side of Dark by Caleb Pirtle III (not the YA vampire book by Amanda Day) is the second Ambrose Lincoln novel I've read. Lincoln is a man whom the government has experimented on, leaving him with no memory, and therefore no fear. But, you will remember Lincoln. In this book, he is working in Poland and Germany in winter searching for the most valuable painting in the world - if it even exists. The book starts a little slowly and I almost rated it a 4 star. But once it gets going, it is intense and hard to put down. In the end, Pirtle's strong storytelling and great ending moved it back up to a 5 star. If you like suspense, the Night Side of Dark delivers.
