The characters are wonderfully written and the book contains a diabolical villain that you will truly love to hate. The author, A. K. Patch, has woven gritty fiction into Greek history and used a plethora of characters to make this story truly impressive. At the beginning, Lauren and Zack, two university professors are living the “good life” in San Diego. Before long they are swept through time to ancient Greece and the land of the Spartans, fight for their own survival, and, in turn, learn a lot about life and themselves. The writing is superb and the story moves along smartly, never boring. There are lots of surprises, twists and turns, and people to love and hate. It’s clear that the author really knows his history, and the battle scenes are so descriptive that the reader feels like he or she is right in the middle of the action. I can easily see this book and the ones that follow as a series of hit movies. I’ll be in line to get the next one, that’s for sure.

At first I thought the subject of Ancient Greece a little daunting but the plot moves very fast and I simply couldn't put this book down. How refreshing to find a strong and heroic female character that dominates the story in a time of Gods and Men. The author has created a unique scenario of current issues we face today and the similarities they faced in Ancient Greece in 480 BCE. Passage at Delphi is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

By Hannah I have to agree with the other reviews on here--this book is definitely a must-read! It's easy to tell the author REALLY knows his history and it's always exciting to encounter a book with a strong heroine as one of the main characters, especially in a story with this much action. I was also kind of intimidated by the idea of a book set in Ancient Greece, but the author made the story really accessible. It's also interesting how the story compares problems we face in modern democracies to problems that ultimately led to the fall of democracy in Ancient Greece. This book would make a great gift for just about anyone, including yourself! You won't be able to put it down!
