About the Author Wm. Stage has been a newspaper journalist / columnist for more than 30 years. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Defending Nora By Fawnzy Whew, think I need a shower. Make that a cold one. Steamy kinky stuff going on here lol. Some light BDSM. There is still action and a great story line to keep you interested and to give you a moment to cool off. Nora is a well developed character. Jack is a stubborn "jackass" to a tee. I had a good time reading the banter going on between everyone. I know I was laughing out loud over a few parts. There was a slightly predictable and fast moving ending. But all in all I had a good time reading. I was given this story for my honest review and this is mine.

But like the genre description states, Defending Nora is more of a erotica romance story than anything else. I found the story itself a bit slow and not as in-depth as the description lead me to believe. There were also several aspects of the story that were unbelievable. Jack is supposedly in love with Nora but when she shows up to ask for help he turns her away and then doesn’t have any contact with her for a week. That doesn’t seem very realistic with his otherwise overprotective, alpha personality. And how does Nora run a business but sit around being bored all day? The CIA’s actions – especially at the end of the story – are not even close to believable.The sex scenes of this erotic novel are written well. Unfortunately, the rest of the novel contains a bit too much of telling instead of showing. Lots of details about friends of Nora and Jack read like information dumps. And entirely too much laughing going on. Tell me a joke and I’ll decide if it’s funny instead of reading about the characters laughing and laughing.Although I really liked Nora in this novel, I could have slapped her at times. And Jack? I definitely would slap him upside the head if I ever got the chance. Anyone else sick of stupid men staying away from the women they supposedly love for really stupid reasons? The other characters, Nora’s sister and Jack’s colleagues, were fun and interesting. I imagine we’ll see more of them in future novels.Overall, I think Leyton’s writing has potential and I’d be willing to try future novels.

By Antoinette Sayer The Uncivil War series keeps getting better and better, and I think this is my favourite so far. I couldn't put it down, and read it in one glorious gulp. The characters are beautifully developed and I felt I was really getting to know them in this, the fourth book of the series. I find this period of English history fascinating - and tragic. Civil war is awful, but there comes a stage when it is inevitable. However there is a great deal of humour in the books - the focus is on the day to day life of the men, and not just on the battles. Longing for the next one , and almost envy anyone who hasn't yet begun the series.

Writing At Its Best By Evelyn Tidman - historical fiction author Here we go again with Hollie Babbit, Luce, Hapless and Gray in another adventure from the English Civil War, possibly the best yet. As the third book in the trilogy, I understand that timewise it fits between books one and two. As the third book also, the author has grown into her subject even more, is now experienced in her handling of the period, knows her characters inside out, back edge and sideways . . . and so does the reader. I love the way we are inside the heads of the different characters, particularly Hollie and Luce. This is writing at its best. As for the battle scenes, the writing conveys the chaos and agony, the sheer brutality, in a masterful way. The final battle as seen from Hollie's point of view, takes the reader into the thick of it, where the protagonists don't know what is going on, but fight through it anyway. We feel the fear, the exhaustion, the desperation of men fighting for their lives, expecting at any moment to die, or to lose their friends. The sheer terror and stupidity of the whole situation is vivid.I waited expectantly for this book to be published. It exceeded my expectations. I have enjoyed it immensely and heartily recommend it. I congratulate the author.

Because once you pick it up, it is more or less impossible to put down, what with ”judas-haired” Hollie’s domestic bliss being derailed by Thankful’s utter misery and potential death, Luce’s determination to stand up for that weird little trooper nobody – nobody – likes, Hollie’s holier-than-thou father, and the general turmoil, mud, blood and gore of Civil War. Plus there is Het, Hollie’s wonderful, sensible wife, an evil-tempered stallion named Tyburn and a somewhat enervating dog that does not belong to Prince Rupert.Rich in historical detail, this book grabs the reader by the ears and drags him/her along on a fast-paced, rather dark, romp through the 17th century, accompanied by a cast of characters that by the end of the book have become almost as near and dear as flesh-and-blood family members – with the benefit of not having to wash all their bloodied, dirty linen…Can't wait for the next installment - and I sincerely hope it's a typo where it says I'll have to wait until 2017...

It will be a very nice reference for History teachers. I will give a copy of this to my aunt who is a teacher in History and will have this recommend for everyone to read especially to those who loves talking about everything in the past.

Historically accurate and well-written, it can be easily used for understanding the big picture of those days. Tristan Clark has made a very good geopolitical research here, which can be especially seen in the last chapter of the book, where he presents the reasons why Germany lost the war. Easy to read, can be of great help for pupils or students that need get familiar with the subject without having to research enormous amounts of information. The book is holding the necessary neutrality, which is always needed when historical subjects are being presented. A quick way of understanding the basic facts and balances between the superpowers of that time. Another thing that i liked is that it is not just a book of plain cold information, but its structure hides the personal tone of the writer, making it more interesting to read. Overall, I definitely suggest it, and will certainly have a look at more historical books published by Tristan Clark. Lastly, my congratulations for the cover, the graphic designer did an impressive job. I will definitely keep an eye of the writer to see next things that he will publish.

I gave it five stars because it was such a smooth,enjoyable journey. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in WW1 but doesn't know a lot about it.

The characters are wonderfully written and the book contains a diabolical villain that you will truly love to hate. The author, A. K. Patch, has woven gritty fiction into Greek history and used a plethora of characters to make this story truly impressive. At the beginning, Lauren and Zack, two university professors are living the “good life” in San Diego. Before long they are swept through time to ancient Greece and the land of the Spartans, fight for their own survival, and, in turn, learn a lot about life and themselves. The writing is superb and the story moves along smartly, never boring. There are lots of surprises, twists and turns, and people to love and hate. It’s clear that the author really knows his history, and the battle scenes are so descriptive that the reader feels like he or she is right in the middle of the action. I can easily see this book and the ones that follow as a series of hit movies. I’ll be in line to get the next one, that’s for sure.

At first I thought the subject of Ancient Greece a little daunting but the plot moves very fast and I simply couldn't put this book down. How refreshing to find a strong and heroic female character that dominates the story in a time of Gods and Men. The author has created a unique scenario of current issues we face today and the similarities they faced in Ancient Greece in 480 BCE. Passage at Delphi is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

By Hannah I have to agree with the other reviews on here--this book is definitely a must-read! It's easy to tell the author REALLY knows his history and it's always exciting to encounter a book with a strong heroine as one of the main characters, especially in a story with this much action. I was also kind of intimidated by the idea of a book set in Ancient Greece, but the author made the story really accessible. It's also interesting how the story compares problems we face in modern democracies to problems that ultimately led to the fall of democracy in Ancient Greece. This book would make a great gift for just about anyone, including yourself! You won't be able to put it down!

The writer of this memoir, Aaron Starkman, was barely 20 years old when he was driven into the Nazi Hitler hell. He decided to keep a diary, where he made notes of everything that was happening. Unfortunately, few of the survivors kept notes about the horrible events that took place. When the history of the Holocaust will be written, and when future history of the Holocaust will be written, and when future historians gather their materials from the archives, there is no doubt that they will utilize Aaron Starkman's diary with its description of the events that took place and the murders that the Hitlerite hordes committed. These facts will also serve as an example of the fate that befell most Jewish communities in Poland and Eastern Europe.

Can't imagine how anyone can survive the terrible treatment either physically or mentally...Those who did, are testaments of man's inhumanity to man!!

It is an account ,which is great to have. It is not well written , which belies the content. Giving testimony was the important thing.

Powerful By William Having been alive during this period (but too young to really know what was happening) I found it enlightening to read a first-hand account of the trials of one that lived through it. Although the book is quite short, it's very powerful. A 'should-read' for anyone interested in the WWII era.
